Training Components
-
This training will give you a comprehensive foundation in vinyasa yoga, with a strong focus on alignment, skeletal variation and therapeutic applications of the practice. This education will allow you, as a yoga teacher, to confidently teach students of all levels, and support individuals with varying needs within your classroom. At the same time, you will learn approaches to creating class sequences that feel creative, exciting and fun. Students crave classes that feel safe AND challenging–this training will enable you to provide both!
-
Therapeutic applications of yoga and movement training are a strong focus in this program. Whether you plan to work with groups of students or individuals, your training with Erin will enable you to assess imbalances in the body due to both muscular tension and weakness, and design classes/programs that promote more balanced movement. Looking at movement through a therapeutic lens isn’t just important when a student is injured; it also enables you to better understand what level of challenge is appropriate for a particular student at any given time–one of the keys to excellent teaching!
-
In addition to traditional texts like the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and The Bhagavad Gita, this training will also include work from more recent writers and scholars such as Lama Rod Owens, Prentiss Hemphill, angel kyodo williams and Adrienne Marie Brown. The combination of foundational yoga texts, and contemporary spiritual discourse from decolonial, feminist and queer perspectives, reminds us that philosophy is alive, and can offer us a roadmap for living with integrity in an increasingly conflicted world.

Lead trainer Erin Hansbrough has been teaching yoga since 2001, and training teachers since 2011. Many of her graduates have gone on to become full-time yoga teachers, and teach in yoga teacher training programs themselves; her trainings have had ~90% job placement rate amongst graduates looking to teach publicly. Erin’s approach to training teachers is grounded in both spiritual commitment and critical thinking; she deeply appreciates working with students who are inquisitive and committed to their own growth.
